New Kent Winery wines to be featured at Congressional Wine Caucus event

Two of New Kent Winery’s wines will be served at the annual Congressional Wine Caucus’ awards presentation and wine tasting Wednesday night in D.C.

Bottles of the winery’s Vidal Blanc and Meritage will be uncorked for Senate and House members who are part of the Congressional Wine Caucus at the event. Also in attendance will be Congressional staffers and wine industry representatives, according to a New Kent Winery news release.

The Congressional Wine Caucus advocates for the interests of the wine industry. It counts about 150 members of Congress as members, according to the caucus’ website.

The event will feature award-winners from the 2017 Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition. New Kent Winery won six awards at this year’s competition, which was held in August. The 2015 Vidal Blanc earned best of category and the Meritage won a gold medal in the competition, the release states.

The winery’s For Pete’s Sake and 2015 Vidal Blanc won silver medals. Its 2015 Chardonnay and 2014 Reserve Chardonnay won bronze medals, according to the release.
