Drivers treated for minor injuries in two-vehicle crash in New Kent

A two-vehicle accident in New Kent Thursday morning left both drivers with minor injuries, according to Virginia State Police.

Police responded to the accident at 7:48 a.m. at the intersection of Farmers Drive and Eltham Road.

According to a Virginia State Police trooper’s preliminary investigation, a female driver of a Ford hatchback was making a left turn from Farmers Drive onto westbound Eltham Road when her vehicle was struck by a Ford pickup truck that was traveling eastbound.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to police.

The driver of the Ford pickup truck, Dale Cava, 60, of Williamsburg, was charged with failure to obey a traffic light.

The crash remains under investigation.
