A tractor-trailer crash shut down all lanes of Interstate 64 West in New Kent County Thursday evening.
Police responded to a two vehicle crash at 2:50 p.m. at the 215 mile marker, according to Virginia State Police.
According to police, a tractor-trailer was attempting to avoid hitting a Toyota Avalon as it approached slowing traffic, but struck the side of the car as it veered to the left. The tractor-trailer continued to move left before stopping in the median .
The tractor-trailer remained upright, but was found down in the embankment. There are no reported injuries, according to police.
The driver of the tractor-trailer has been charged with reckless driving.
The crash created a back up on the interstate, causing drivers to use alternate routes to avoid delays.
The crash remains under investigation.
