New Kent County Public Schools is seeking public input in their search for a new superintendent.
The school board announced March 4 it will begin its search for a new superintendent by seeking public input, according to a news release by New Kent County Public Schools.
The school board has created an online survey related to superintendent criteria, which is available at surveymonkey.com/r/NewKentSearch and on the home page of the division website. The survey will be available until March 21.
Hard copies of the survey also are available at the School Board Administration Offices at each of the schools. The School Board office is at 12003 New Kent Highway, New Kent.
In addition to the survey, the board will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. March 20 at the School Board office.
School Board chairwoman Sarah Barber said they want the public’s voice in the process.
“Hiring a new superintendent is the biggest task facing a School Board and we want to make sure that the public has a voice in this process,” Barber said. “We hope that parents, staff and residents will take time to fill out the survey and/or attend the public hearing.”
The School Board will be assisted by the Virginia School Boards Association in the search. The board will meet with members of the association at 11 a.m. March 22 at the School Board office to finalize the qualifications and timeline for the search.
