Regional Animal Shelter to waive adoption and other fees

The Regional Animal Shelter wants adoptable animals to find their forever homes in time for the holiday season.

The shelter’s “Bring them Home for the Holidays” promotion applies to for all adoptable animals, cats and dogs. The shelter will waive the $20 adoption fee and the Indian Rivers Humane Society will pay for half of the neuter/spay fee, which is $50 for dogs and $35 for cats, according to a news release from the shelter.

The shelter is also asking for donations for the holiday season:

» Dog and cat toys — washable things such as Kong, ping pong balls, ropes toys and tennis balls.

» Rubber backed rugs/mats to keep dogs off of the cold floor

» Canned dog and cat food and treats

» Medium and large — 25 pounds and over — dog sweaters/jackets

» Laundry supplies: detergent, bleach and dryer sheets

» Gift cards: Petsmart, Walmart, Target, Food Lion and Petco

Monetary donations are needed for the shelter’s Sunshine Fund for the following categories: enrichment for shelter animals, community spay/neuter assistance, medical care and adoption promotions of shelter animals

Donations can be mailed, shipped to or dropped off at: 20201 King William Road, King William, VA 23086 or P.O. Box 215, King William, VA 23086.

The shelter is open Monday-Friday 9:30 a.m.- 4 p.m., Wednesdays until 6 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Kennel visiting hours are Monday-Friday 11 a.m.- 4 p.m., Wednesdays 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. The shelter will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25.
