Residents in West Point have the chance to vote for a number of local positions, along with a representative in the 1st Congressional District and the U.S. Senate in the Nov. 6 general election.
The town’s mayor, members of Town Council and School Board are up for re-election.
Mayor James H. “Jim” Hudson III is running for re-election unopposed.
Three seats are up for election on Town Council. Incumbent councilwoman Tina S. Gulley is running, as are three additional candidates: James M. “Jamie” Pruett, John G. Ragsale II and C.J. “Joe” Sanders Jr.
Three seats also also up for election on the School Board. Current members B. Kay Lawson, Elliot G. Jenkins and Paul E. Diggs are seeking for re-election; Carolyn D. Buckner is also running for a seat.
There are no local elections in other Tidewater localities; Oct. 15 is the last day to register to vote.
