The West Point Combined Parent Teacher Organization has a new executive board.
The board was elected per nominations of organization members at the March 12 meeting, according to a news release from the combined PTO.
The executive board is:
» Holly Lohr, president: Formerly the secretary of the PTO, Lohr is a West Point Elementary School parent that substitutes in the West Point School division. As a West Point High School alum, former educator and Volunteer of the Year for the 2017-2018 school year, she is full of Pointer pride and dedicated to leading a successful PTO. Her focus will be on increasing support for teachers, fundraising and parent involvement.
» Leah Tysall, vice president: Originally from San Diego, Tysall grew up in Yorktown and has lived in West Point for six years. She has two daughters in the West Point School Division and is looking forward to planning events and meeting new people through the PTO. She received the Volunteer of the Year award for the 2016-2017 school year and has been a member of the PTO for six years.
» Britney Ball, secretary: A West Point native, Ball teaches third-grade at West Point Elementary. She has been an educator for 12 years and earned the title of Teacher of the Year two years ago. Ball enjoys being involved with the community and is looking forward to a new year.
» TaSheia Dokes, treasurer: Dokes is a native of Pine Bluff, Ark., and moved to West Point about six years ago by way of Tyler, Texas. She is the owner of Events By Us Only, a planning company, and looks forward to working with the parents, school and community of West Point.
The West Point Combined PTO meets at 4:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the West Point High School library. The next meeting will be April 9.
