Pointer pride fills downtown with high school homecoming parade

On Friday night, West Point Pointers gathered along Main Street in downtown West Point to kick off homecoming. High school students and school officials paraded down the street in cars while the community cheered them on.

Homecoming court candidates and cheerleaders waved to parade goers and threw candy out into the crowd.

Extravagant floats made by each grade level made their way down the street, all with themes of the Pointers beating Mathews High School at the Friday night homecoming game.

The town’s pride was evident again at the homecoming football game, where the Pointers beat Mathews 64-0. Homecoming queen Catherine Bishop and king Nyseim Shaw were crowned during halftime.
