West Point Public Schools PTO holds 'Kiss the Pig' fundraiser

West Point Public Schools raised money for teachers to get a chance to kiss a pig to benefit the West Point Public Schools Parent Teacher Organization.

The Parent Teacher Organization came up with the Kiss the Pig fundraiser/contest to raise money to benefit the schools and organization, according to PTO member Leah Tysall.

“We set up jars in the cafeterias of both schools for students to put money in the jars for which teacher they wanted to win and kiss the pig,” Tysall said.

The winners were first-grade teacher Mrs. Bland for West Point Elementary and Mrs. Gay, middle school science teacher, for the middle and high school, who got to kiss “Willie” on Thursday, according to PTO secretary Holly Lohr.

The contest raised $440, which will go to the PTO to benefit the schools, such as teacher appreciation week, scholarships and back to school night, according to Lohr.
