West Point High School is ready to recognize former student athletes for its 2018-19 sports Hall of Fame. Nominations will be accepted until Feb. 20.
Student-athletes who graduated 10 or more years ago are eligible for nomination. Coaches must have been separated from the school athletic program for 10 years or more, according to a news release from West Point High School.
If an individual coached for 15 or more years, they must be separated from the athletic program for a minimum of five years. Contributors must be separated from the program and school for a minimum of three years to be considered.
Criteria for nominees include stats, awards, degree of recognition as an athlete, coach or contributor with alumni and the public, distinctive or unique accomplishments that attracted public attention and the individual’s success or prominence in life including professional career, stature in the community and service to the school and athletic programs, according to the news release.
Nominees are considered and voted on in March and notified in April. Inductees are recognized at the WPHS sports awards in June at the Hall of Fame football game in the fall. A committee made up of former coaches and athletes, as well as former and present administration and athletic directors will vote on the nominations.
