There’s no better way to chase the winter blues away than at the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra’s Cabaret & Cocktails evening, where guests can enjoy the musical stylings of jazz singer and pianist Tony DeSare.
The event will return to the Williamsburg Lodge Jan. 26, transforming the hotel’s Virginia Room into a concert hall with a 40-foot stage and table seating for attendees, WSO Executive Director Carolyn Keurajian said.
“Cabaret & Cocktails is celebrating its fifth year and has become a premier signature event for Williamsburg during the slower month, January,” Keurajian wrote in an email. “The audience can continue to expect the same great music, ambience, humor, fun and great music that has become a signature of this event.”
Previous events have featured artists including Broadway star Tiffany Haas, Boston Pops member Mike Monaghan and trumpeter Byron Stripling, she said. Tony DeSare, this year’s featured performer, has received national acclaim for his work as a composer, singer and pianist, and will perform music from audience favorites including Billy Joel, Elton John and Ray Charles.
“His sound is romantic, swinging and sensual, but what sets DeSare apart is his ability to write original material that sounds fresh and contemporary, yet pays homage to the Great American Songbook,” Keurajian said. “His compositions include a wide-range of romantic, funny, and soulful sounds that can be found on his top-selling recordings.”
