Light up the night at Glow Run Williamsburg

Paint the town red, green, orange and every other color under the sun at Glow Run Williamsburg, taking place June 16 in New Town.

The fun run gives families an opportunity to stay active in a low-key, lighthearted environment, says Margo Harris, spokesperson for Adventure Enablers, which organizes the annual event. She encourages event-goers to dress up in bright, neon-colored clothing.

“It’s always a lot of fun,” said Harris. “It’s not a timed event, it’s just a fun, low-key way to get outside, be healthy and have a good time.”

The Glow Run is split into two races: a 5K and 1-mile fun run. Both events are untimed, and Harris says participants are usually split evenly between both.

“It’s not a very competitive event, we have just as many people doing the 1-mile run as the 5K, so anybody can do it, you can walk it and it’s stroller-friendly,” said Harris.

Both races start at dusk, but glow runners can meet at New Town’s Sullivan Square beforehand to win prizes, get their faces painted and enter the glow costume contest.

Once the sun starts to set, runners will make their way to the finish line at Legacy Hall, where they can attend a post-run party. Harris expects 300 to 400 participants at the event, which she says has grown steadily since its inception in 2014.

Registration for the 5K on-site ist $50, while the 1-mile race is $40, but runners who register online before June 15 will receive a $5 discount. To sign up, visit:
