Latisha's House gala to help survivors of sex trafficking

Latisha House’s Winter Wonderland Gala will feature five-star dining and fine wines in support of the nonprofit’s efforts to aid survivors of sex trafficking on Jan. 27.

The annual event, now in its fifth year, will treat diners to a four-course meal with chef-selected wine pairings at Two Rivers Country Club. The menu includes chef-prepared entrees like Baked Salmon Brittany and pepper-crusted roasted beef sirloin with dessert.

Funds raised by the event will go to offset medical and psychiatric expenses as well as vocational training for female survivors of sex trafficking, said Lauren Newell of Latisha’s House.

Last year the event raised $77,000. Latisha’s House hopes to raise $100,000 this year, Newell said.

The black-tie-optional event features 60s/70s British pop rock band The Hullabaloos. There also will be silent and live auctions, which feature items like wine, dinners, golf packages and vacations.

There also will be handcrafted candles made by Latisha’s House residents available for purchase, Newell said.

Individual tickets are $150 per person and include the four-course meal and access to a cash bar and the auctions. Tables of 10 to 12 seats are available for community and corporate sponsors and range from $2,000 to $4,000.

The event will run 5:30-9:30 p.m. and be held at 1400 Two Rivers Road.

Tickets and table sponsorships can be purchase online at or by checks payable to Latisha’s House Foundation, P.O. Box 5817 Williamsburg, VA 23188.
